Visitation will be held Friday, June 1, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m.

"Jake" Slusser, 88, wife of Joseph E. "Ed" Slusser, died Monday, May 28, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center. Born in Numidia, PA she was a daughter of the late Earl Joseph and Arvilla Hill Tyson. Mrs. Slusser was retired from Michele's Inc.

She was a former active member of St. Francis Episcopal Church where she served as a Lector, Chalice Bearer, Crucifer, Altar Guild, Sunday School teacher and VBS worker and was involved with the Daughters of the King. She was currently a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Surviving are a daughter, Michele Shearer and husband, Jim; three grandchildren, Owen, Andrew a member.

She had a great love of the Lord and was a prayer warrior for her family. She was predeceased by her husband, her first child, Jack Monroe Andrews, her parents, and her two sisters. She is survived by her son Charlie Andrews, his wife Barbara and her daughters Martha Bateman, Janet Andrews, and Becky Galloway and sons-in-law Don and Mark. She also leaves behind granddaughters Erin Smith, Elizabeth Galloway, Anna Catron, and Amanda Hinojos as well as great grandchildren Emily, Caleb, Blakely, Ernie, Mary-Raydon and Evie. A private burial was held May 29th in Bear Creek, NC.

A memorial service will take place Sunday, June 3rd at 3:00 at North-side United Methodist Church in Greenville, SC. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. Bess Paisley Andrews Greenville Bess Paisley Andrews passed away at her home Saturday, May 26th surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 20, 1919 in McLeansville, NC, the daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. William Howard Paisley. After graduating from McLeansville High School, she attended Elon College. On Dec. 1, 1943, she married Jack Monroe Andrews of Bonlee, NC.

They celebrated 62 blissful years of marriage before Mr. Andrews' passing in 2006. She was an exceptional mother of 5 children. She had a loving nature and a witty sense of humor which she derived from her parents. She found much joy in reading and playing cards.

When mobility became an issue, she retired from her bridge clubs but continued to challenge her children with card games. Judith Ann Kinney Greenville, SC Judith Ann Kinney 51, of Greenville, SC passed away on Friday May 18, 2012. She is survived by her daughter; Sarah Ann Neal, her step father; Bruce K.

Brown and her sister; Carol E. Kinney all of Greenville, SC. She was predeceased by her mother; Margaret Spotts Brown, her brother; George H. Kinney, and father; Henry K. Kinney.

She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, Greenville, SC. She was last employed by Showpros and the Bi-Lo Center. Funeral services will be held at a later date. Wiliani Norris Cooper Jr. 3171937-5222012 Greenville William (Bill) N.

Cooper Jr. died on May 22, 2012 after a short illness. Bill was born on March 17, 1937 in Travelers Rest, SC to William N. Cooper Sr. and Azalee Henderson Cooper, both deceased.

Bill graduated from Travelers Rest High School in 1955. He went on to graduate from Clemson University in 1960 with a degree in textile management. He worked as a textile manager for many years with several different textile companies. He married Bren-da Alexander on August 4, 1959 and remained married for 42 years. They had two children: Lisa and Kevin.

He is survived by his sister, Sue Cooper Hill; son, Kevin Cooper; daughter, Lisa Cooper Ezzelle; and grandchildren: Daniel Alan and Alexander Jason (AJ) Ezzelle. A private memorial service will be held on Friday on June 1, 2012. Martha Day Giliam Easley Martha Day Gilliam, 70, beloved wife of Jim-jggg my Gilliam, May 29, 2012. I Born in Ea sley, she was a daughter of the late Walter Earl and Jeanette Smith Day. Mrs.

Born in Union County, he was a son of Olin M. and Mary Birch Eubanks. Mr.

Eubanks was a US Air Force Veteran, a retired Deputy Sheriff, having served for 40 years, and was a member of Wayside Baptist Church. Born in Fair Play she the widow of Bernice M. Rholetter and a daughter of the late DeWitt and Bertha Standi Lewis. She worked many years as a beautician. Gistrap Liberty Mozelle Katherine Burgess Gilstrap, 71, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at her home.

Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Spelling Burgess and Essie Howard Burgess. Mrs. Gilstrap was retired from Champion Aviation in Liberty. Surviving are her children, Kim Mitchell (Tim) of Liberty, Karen Edgell (Dan) of Pickens and Clint Gilstrap of Liberty; four grandchildren, Holly Evans and Miranda Gilstrap both of Greenville, Cody Mitchell of Liberty and Danielle Edgell of Pickens; two step grandchildren, Travis Mitchell (Jennifer) and Sommer Brock (Matt); four step great grandchildren, Josh and Emma Mitchell and Guy and William Brock; a sister, Evelyn Grice of Pickens; and a brother, Gary Burgess of Pickens. Gwen "GwynoEa" Abbott Carrol Greenville Gwen "Gwynolia" Abbott Carroll, 91, of 221 Courtney Circle, widow of Herbert Win-fred Carroll, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at her residence.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Alfred T. and Mary Price Abbott. Mrs. Carroll was a retired Textile employee and was a part-time counselor for WGGS Channel 16. She was a member of Greenville First Assembly of God.

Surviving are a daughter, Janet C. Bagwell of Greenville; three sons, Winfred "Chuck" Nelson Carroll of San Antonio, TX, Wayne David Carroll of Moun Honor enduring legacies. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Ivory Burgess, and two sisters, Azilee Lander and Nathalee Reynolds. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with burial to follow in Hill-crest Memorial Park. She attended MaryviHe College in Tennessee and Western Carolina University in North Carolina. She taught English and Spanish during World War II at Franklin NC High School. She was an avid bridge player, often playing long hours with her many girl friends or in duplicate tournaments. As a Master Gardener, she was part of a group that helped establish an urban community garden in Greenville. She was well known for her entertaining anecdotes that were always amusing and often caught one off-guard.

Cumi was loved and adored by friends too numer Lewis Niles Workman Jr. Seneca Lewis man, Niles Work-58, of Seneca, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Cottingham Hospice House. Born in Enor-ee, SC, he was the son of the late Lewis Niles Workman, and Elizabeth Gwyn Workman. He is survived by Margaret Summey Workman, his loving wife of 69 years. Mr.

Workman was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was employed by Liberty Life Insurance Company for 35 years. He was a past member and Paul Harris Fellow of Seneca Rotary Club. He worked for many years as a volunteer for Collins Children's Home and was co-founder of their barbecue fundraiser. Mr.

Workman was a member of St. Mark's UMC ous to count. Surviving are her four daughters, Ms. Linda Palmer Hudson, Mrs. Patricia Ellen Baker of Kailua-Kona, HI, Mrs.

Nora Gail Gre-enway of Prosperity, SC and Dr. Margaret Palmer-Nussman of Davidsonville, MD; and ten much-loved grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Unity Methodist Church, 2703 Augusta Street, Greenville, SC 29605. The family will receive friends at the church at 10 a.m.
