TWO WHITE CHILDREN DROWNED THE RAILKOAD WINS IN BRIDGE CASE. Anderson, Aug. 27. Two little white children of a woman named t-is Taylor were drowned in Seneca river, near bridge, about nine miles from town Sunday. They were in charge of a negro woman who carried theoi down to the river, The negro woman say that she carried them out on a rock, and while amusing' them the elder, a little girl of eleven, fell into the river; she immediately dived after her, and when she came up the baby, just two years old, had also fallen in both drowning.

Coroner Miller is there now holding nn inquest. Dr. T. C. Harris is also with him.

There may have been some foul play. Judge Simonton has decided, in the case of the city of Anderson against the Blue Ridge, for a hiick, or stone arch across the railroad cut. on north Slain street, that the railroad will only be compelled to furnish a substantial wooden structure, like the present one. This is great disappointment to Anderson, as the present bridge is in every respect a drawback to the progress of Anderson. Miss Essie Todd entertained one night last week in honor of her guests.

Good congregations attended each service. Presiding Elder, J. Wilson, of Anderson, preached two splendid sermons. Laurens. Aug. 25. Showers which have passed by a week failed us again yesterday evening and the heated term is still "strenuouly" upon us. Farmers concede corn and cotton, the former not half, and the cotton only a possible half crop.

There has been an influx of visitors to Laurens from all parts of the country and the town has been social, notwithstanding the range of the mercury. Among the many visiting their old homes are: B. H. Balle, Philadelphia, and Jno Balle, of Virginia. The first left here about five years ago and is a leading druggist in the Quaker city, where he married a splendid Philadelphia girl, who is here with him.

John Balle is in the railroad business. He is the boy who was easily first in the Citadel class of two years ago that got into trouble and had to leave, lie is doing well. Their father L. (i. Balle, is a veteran, and the clerk of the city council of this city.
