112 Greenville News Friday, March 10, 1989 5C OBITUARIES LOUIS TURNER Greenville. Louis B. Turner, 66, of 12 Springside Avenue, died at 7:00 a.m. Thursday at Greenville Memorial Hospital after a long illness. GLADYS H.

GRANT Greenville. Gladys Hall Grant, 88, of 735 Wade Hampton Blvd. and widow W. Grant, died Wednesday, March 8, 1989 at Allen Bennett Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. A native of Haywood County, N.C., daughter of the late Isaac Turner and Harriett Louise Rogers Hall, she was a retired employee of Southern Worsted and a member of White Oak Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Lula B.

Green Sunday School Class, the Fannie Gwinn Circle, the Aurora Club and the W.M.U. Surviving are three daughters, Ethel Lindsey of Maryville, Mildred Green of Bethal, Washington and Mary Lou Dill of Spartanburg; four sons, George W. Grant, Jr. of Taylors, Rev. Olin D.

Grant of Stoney Point, N.C., Frank Grant of Pelzer and Donald Grant of Santa Monica, a sister, Effie Blackwell of Inman; 37 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at White Oak Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Harry Smith and the Rev. Eugene Lawrence.

Burial will be at Double Springs Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary escort will be members of the Lula B. Green Sunday School Class of White Oak Baptist Church. The body is at the Wood Mortuary and will be placed in the church Saturday at 10:00 a.m.

The family is at the home of a son, George W. Grant, 29 McConnell Road, Taylors, and will receive friends at the mortuary from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday. HOWARD L. IRVIN Howard L.

Irvin, 87, a resident of 303 Piedmont Highway for the past forty years, husband of Kathleen Dilling Irvin, died Tuesday, March 7, 1989 a at Greenville Memorial Hospital after a period of declining health. Born in Jackson County, he was a son of the late William Meade and Sallie Anderson Irvin and lived most of his life in Greenville. Mr. Irvin retired i in 1970 as the owner and operator of H.L. Irvin, Inc.

He was a Deacon and Treasurer of Dunean Baptist Church for thirty years. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Martha Lou Irvin Smith of Greenville; a son, William H. Irvin, Sr. of Easley; two sisters, Mrs.

Pauline Fuller of Easley and Mrs. Lee I. Ivey of Charlotte; a brother, Willie Irvin of Greenville; seven grandchildren, William H. Irvin of Greensboro, Steven D. Irvin, LuAnne Smith and Steven Mark Smith, all of Greenville, Michael Wayne Irvin of Easley, and two step-grandchildren, Robbie Robertson and Michael Robertson, both of Easley; and three great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Nathan and Robin Irvin.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Chapel of the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland East Memorial Park with grandsons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be from the Fellowship Bible Class of Dunean Baptist Church along with Gary Wells and James P. (Buck) Clardy.

He was a retired employee of Yellow Freight Trucking of Atlanta, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Brandon Lodge 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of Hejaz Temple of Shrine, and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Beulah Turner of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle King of Greenville; a step-son, Phil Hyman of Greer; six grandchildren; four children; a brother, Willie Turner of Greenville; eight sisters, Mrs. Pearl Powell of Greenville, Mrs. Dessie Day of Pickens, Mrs. Irene Revis, Mrs.

Lela Golightly, Mrs. Ollie Roper, Mrs. Eva Roper and Mrs. Gladys Jones all of Easley and Mrs. Julia Robinson of Burl- MRS.

SUNNIE R. HOWARD Mrs. Sunnie Rice Howard, 83, 210 Cape Charles Drive, died Wednesday, March 8, 1989 at Greenville Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Born September 10, 1905 in ington, NC. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m.

Saturday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home in Easley by Rev. Gary Cooper. Burial with Masonic Rites will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park near Pickens. Me The body is at Robinson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday.

Pearline Holcombe Newton, 79, of 5 Oakdale Drive, died Thursday, March 9, 1989 at Saint Francis Hospital after a month's illness. Born in Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late Wade Hampton and Carrie Finch Holcombe and lived in Greenville most of her life. Mrs. Newton was an interior decorator before her retirement, and formerly was associated with Myers Arnold Company. the late Charlie and Aligany Kelly Rice.

She lived in Miami, Fla. for over forty years before coming to Greenville. Mrs. Howard was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Connie H.

Calderwood and Patsy Howard, both of Greenville, and June H. O'Neal or Valdosta, two sons, Joseph L. Howard of Miami, Fla. and Dan L. Howard of Greenville; a sister, Mrs.

Billie Lance of Mauldin; eleven grandchildren; and nineteen greatgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas J. Howard, in 1967. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel of the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family is at the residence. Thomas McAfee Funeral She was a member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church.

(Ruby) Springfield of Greenville; a brother, Wade Thomas (W.T.) Holcombe of Greenville; nine grandchildren, Ricky Landrum, Chan L. Robertson, Scott Landrum, Rindy N. Staffins, Susan N. Shea, Donna N. Hazelwood, Keith Newton, Karla Newton and Denise Newton; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Newton was predeceased by her husband, Carl H. Newton, July 4, 1988. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel of the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home.

WALTER BUCHANAN Travelers Rest. Walter Earl Buchanan, 44, of 207 Belvue School Road, husband of Linda Hawkins Buchanan, died March 8, 1989 at Saint Francis Hospital from natural causes. Mr. Buchanan was born in Greenville County, SC, April 3, 1944, a son of George and Clara Belle Buchanan of Marietta, SC. He was a member of North Greenville Pentecostal Holiness Lo of Greenville.

Mr. Buchanan was Chairman of the Board of Deacons of North Greenville Pentecostal Holiness Church, he was also a former Sunday School teacher. Surviving in addition to his wife and parents are three daughters, Tracey Buchanan, Noelle Bu-: chanan and Stephanie Buchanan all of the home; three sisters, Thelma Looper and Gail Belue both of Marietta, Patricia Wilson of Slater, SC; one brother, Dennis' Buchanan of Marietta, SC; grandmother, Fannie Ward of Marietta. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. from Terry Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev.

Ida Biemann Hetrick, 93, of 525 East Street, Raleigh, NC, died at Hillhaven Nursing Center in Raleigh on March 7, 1989 following an illness of two months. Born in Walhalla, SC, October 10, 1895, she was a daughter of the late Henry D. A. Biemann and Catharine Rieppe Biemann. She was a granddaughter of Dietrich Biemann, one of the original settlers of the town and who built the first house in Walhalla.

She was one of the first students to attend the first public school in Walhalla which replaced the formerly private owned schools. She was a graduate of Lander College where she was given a scholarship as an Assistant Instructor in Physical Education. She also attended Clemson. University, she was a former supervisor of the School Lunch Program in Oconee County. She attend Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Raleigh and was a former member of Saint John Lutheran Church in Walhalla, SC.

She MRS. RANDY H. CAGLE Mrs. Marilyn Yeomans Cagle, 39, of 13 Ila Court, died Tuesday, March 7, 1989. A native of Greenville, she was a daughter of Dr.

Ed H. and Elizabeth Reaves Yeomans and she was a member of White Horse Heights Baptist Church. Also surviving are a daughter, Kerri Elizabeth Cagle of Greenville and two brothers, Hal Yeomans and Todd Yeomans, both of Greenville. Funeral services will be con-. ducted at 3:00 p.m.
