Apr. 22. A father lay dead today and his son was being held at the Anderson county jail allegedly as a result of a difficulty which occurred in an Orr mills village home yesterday afternoon. Eddie Frank White. 56, former Texan and for a number of years an employe of the Orr mills, died this morning at 10:45 o'clock at the Anderson County hospital as a.

result of a badly fractured skull, the injury having been inflicted with a chair by his son. Lonnie White. 24, who waa arrested soon after the altercation Thursday and Is being held in the county jail pending action by a coroner's Jury. JURY VIEWS BODY Coroner J. Olin Burton empan-nelled a jury this morning and the body of the elder White was viewed.

The coroner did not set a date -for the inquest but is expected to order an investigati6n probably early during the coming week. The altercation which resulted in the death of his father occurred yesterday afternoon about 2:30 o'clock at the White residence, 3 Prince street Orr mills. According to the version given by young White as well aa his mother, the elder White entered the house just after Lonnie White had finished his lunch. The elder man reportedly ordered his son to leave the house. The latter refused.

The elder man allegedly had a piece of iron in- his hand and when he advanced on his son, the latter hurled a chair at his father. One of the legs of the chair struck the elder man upon the head and penetrated the skull, leaving a gaping hole from which the brain protruded. It was said. TRANSFUSIONS GIVEN The wounded man was rushed' to the Anderson County hospital where a blood transfusion was given Wednesday night and another today but to no avail, Young White told officers that he had no intention of slaying his father and had no idea that the chair would inflict a mortal wound, indicating that he was only attempting to protect himself and other members of the family. Eddie Frank White was born in Texas, his parents, the late Robert White and Mrs.

Katie Jennings White having originally lived in Douglasville, Ga. He had been mak ing his nome in Anderson lor -ce past 12 years and was employed by the Orr cotton mills as a weaver. KNOW- WeLLrlT'5 LITTLE EARlV- TH' LAUNDRie HAVEN'T CL05ED FO? THE DAY WILL SIGN PACT Details Of Agreement That It Is Hoped Will End Bickering Secret LONDON, Apr. 22. (A) Great Britain and Ireland today reached an agreement they hoped would end years of bickering. An announcement by the do minions office said the accord had been concluded, but gave no de tails. Drafted after three mbnths of ne gotiations headed by British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain and Irish Prime Minister Eamon de Va-lera, the agreement will be signed Monday.

Reliable but unofficial sources in Dublin said the new agreement settled thq long-standing land annuities and tariff differences between1 the two countries. It was believed, however, that one major issue De Valera's dream for a united Irelandwas left untouched, at least for the present. Economic differences between the two countries date back to 1932, when De Valea, then Irish Free State president, withheld payment of land annuities to Great Britain amounting to 5,000.000 pouirte yearly, for advancVC made by Britain to enable Irish tenants to buy land. Manual training as a school sub ject originated in Finland in 1858.
