They personify instead the confidence and in A course in business English for part or full time employed persons over 14 and temporarily unemployed persons will be offered this fall by the vocational education department of Greenville high school, beginning Tuesday, it was announced yesterday. The class, taught by Mrs. Lucy Crawford, teacher of distributive education in the vocational department of the high school, will meet three afternoons each week in the council chamber of City hall. The class will be held from 2:30 to 3:30 Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The course was designed especially for those who work on Fridays and Saturdays, for delivery boys and for those who can arrange for a late lunch period.

It is offered as a practical course for those who feel the need of further study in business English, but who cannot attend high school. The first meeting of the class will De Tuesday afternoon. The course will continue for about three months. We haven't room to list all the prises but there are subscriptions to Bride's Maga-iin and the Vogue pattern book and a 65.00 scholarship for a stenotype. course at the Carolina Commercial College for a business-type costume entered by an interested young woman.

Better Coats Second Floor Or. Bearden Given Full Professorship At Johns Hopkins University Dr. J. A. Bearden, who was graduated from Furman university in 1923, has been elected to a full professorship at Johns Hopkins university in Baltimore, it was learned here yesterday.

President Bowman of Johns Hopkins, in announcing the appointment, called attention to the fact that Dr. Bearden was still in his 30s. Dr. Bearden left Furman with a major in mathematics under the late Dr. M.

D. Earle and entered the University of Chicago, where he took his Ph.D. degree under Prof. Arthur Holly Compton, Nobel prize winner in physics. After three years as an instructor at the University of Chicago, Dr.

Bearden went to Johns Hopkins as an associate in the physics department. Because of his work there, his name was starred in "American Men of Science" six years ago. It was pointed out that only 250 men are thus honored out of thousands of names that appear In the publication and the honor comes only to those scientists whose research is considered the most important in the numerous fields of science covered by that volume. Dr. Bearden is a native of Westminster and his wife also is a native South Carolina.

(P)-Aubrey Allison Brooks, 37, his four-year-old son, Harry Trapp, and Miss Nell Humphries, all of Rion, were killed late last night when their automobile crashed into a concrete bridge over Johnson swamp near here. Brooks' wife and Miss Thelma Sit-ton of Winnsboro, the other occupants of the car, were carried to a Lake City hospital, suffering from critical injuries.
