Sheriff J. Perry Poole and Coroner Eugene Batson received yesterday morning letters from Governor Blease in which "he ordered an immediate re-investigation of the death of Mrs.

Beatrice Crafts, who was found dead in bed at her home in the Carolina Mill village on last Thursday morning. In his letter to the two county officials Governor Blease stated that it had been reported to him that the woman's husband had teen cruel to her, and that her people suspected her of having been poisoned, Requesting them to thoroughly thresh the matter out and -exhume the body if necessary and have an examination made by an experienced physician, Governor Blease closed his letter by asking Sheriff Lole and Coroner Batson to report to him at once their findings in the case. Yesterday afternoon the two county officials wrote to Governor Blease, explaining the circumstances of the pends. not definitely known. Crafts, stated that he was the husband of the deceased; that he lived with her at No. 15 Gate street, Carolina Mill vil- i lage; that he got up at 6 o'clock on Thursday morning and went to the mill, leaving his wife and-child in bed; that he covered them both up, but did not notice the condition of his wife, whether she was dead or alive; that he had been, in a habit I of going to work without his breakfast, owning to his wife's bad health; that he was summoned home, after reaching the mill, to find his wife dead. The second witness, Mrs. Mamie Putman, testified that she lives at 1 No. 11 Gate street: between 7 pany with two young women.

It was said last night that Boyle stated to another Just prior to the shooting that he was going to "lay for Kelly and kill him as he came by." Boyle is said to have been armed with a pistol and a pair of knucks, and to have struck Kelly with the knucks and to have fired one or more of the three shots. The fourth and last witness examined was Dr. G. Elliott, who testified that the deceased, Mrs. Crafts, came to her death from heart failure. The letter received yesterday from Governor Blease by Sheriff Poole is as follows: Columbia, June Bth, 1911.

Mr. J. Porry Poole, Sheriff, Greenville County, Greenville, South Carolina. Dear Sir: It Is reported to me that Mrs. Beatrice Crafts, wife of Moses Crafts, died on June 1st, 1911, at Carolina Mill Village in your county.

It Is further reported that Crafts bought a bottle of coca, cola the night before and gave it to his wife; that she drank it and went to sleep and did not wake again.
