Frank Slaton ANDERSON, April 25-Funeral services for Mrs. Ann Burdette Slaton, 21, wife of Frank Slaton of 3102 Burson who died Wed nesday night in a Tryon hospital following an automobile accident. will be conducted Friday at 6 p.m. at Iva Baptist Church by the Rev. T.

A. Woolbright and the Rev. Willis Pruitt. Burial will be in Iva Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nell Stovall, Randy Flemings, Billy, Calvin, Hanford and Hoyt Burdette.

The body is at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Burdette, in Iva. McDougald Fuperal Home is in charge. Mrs.

L. L. Clark Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Bishop Clark, 51, who died Thurs. day at a local hospital, will be conducted by the Rev.

C. Wilbur Brockwell and the Rev. Dempsey Stephens on Saturday at 2 p. m. at Bethel Methodist Church on Old Buncombe Road.

Thames. For the past five years Mrs. Clark had lived at 111 Stall St. moving there from Piedmont. Rt.

2. She was employed at Poe Mill and formerly lived at the Amer. Scan Spinning Co. She was a member of Bethel Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Lyman L.

Clark; one son, L. Clark of Greenville: one er, Robert Bishop of Travelers Rest, and two grandchildren. After 10 a. m. Friday the body will be at the home, 111 Stall St.

Thomas McAfee is the funeral director. Kemsey K. Cox INMAN, April 25 Kemsey K. Cox, 82, died at a Spartanburg hospital at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday following four weeks of serious ill- ness, Mr.

Cox made his home with 8 daughter, Mrs. Gladys Price on Leon Street, Inman. He W88 a retired 1 farmer and was born in Henderson County, N. C. He was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church in Henderson County.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Price of Inman, Mrs. Ina Horton of Rt. 8, Inman, Mrs. Myrtle Deweese of Weaverville, N.

and Mrs. Grace Connor of Forest City, N. 3 sons. Horace Cox of Rt. 2, Campobello, Cecil.

Cox of Rt. 3, Inman; and Forrest Cox of Rt. 1, Inman; 2 sisters, Mrs. Rosa Childress of Gaffney and Mrs. Mae Burrell of Rt.

1, Inman, 30 grandchildren and 38 great Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at Littie Mountain Baptist Church by the Rev. Essley Campbell, the Rev. Guy Lawson and the Rev. Leroy Cleveland.

Burial will be In Liberty Baptist Church Ceme tery near Hendersonville, Pallbearers will be Doll, Calvin end Frank Burrell, David Rhodes, Floyd Dimsidale and Ben Cox. F. McAlister LIBERTY, April 25 Arthur F. McAlister, 57, of Clemson, died in an Anderson hospital early Thursday night after an illness of several days. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home of Liberty. Mrs.

W. L. Hill BARNES STATION, April 25 Mrs. Bessie Morgan Hill, 71, died at her home here at 3:55 p. m.

Thursday after six years of declining health. Mrs. Hill was the wife of William Lester Hill and the daughter of the late R. I. Morgan and Fanme Perry Morgan.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Melvin Hill of Philadelphia, William A. and Fred A. Hill, both of Iva: two daughters, Mrs. Grady Pettigrew of Anderson, Mrs. J.

C. Alewine of Belton; four brothers, G. P. and Sanford Morgan, both of Greer, B. H.

Morgan of Cocoa, Thomas Morgan of Elberton, two sisters, Mrs. J. S. Howard Greenwood, Mrs. W.

S. Gilliam of Edgefield. Funeral services will be conducted at Union Baptist Church Saturday at 3:30 p. m. by the Rev.

Leroy Hayes and the Rev. D. B. Webber. Burial will be in the church cemetery, The body will be at the home after 4 p.

m. Friday, McDougald Funeral Home is In charge. A. J. Johnson WHITMIRE, April 25 Andrew Jackson Johnson died at a Union hospital late Wednesday night following four months illness.

Mr. Johnson's wife, Mrs. Lucy Bledsoe Johnson, died in 1953. He was a native of Lee! County, Va. and was a son of the late Grandville and Hanna Nealy Johnson.

He had lived Whitmire 1928 and was employed at Aragon Baldwin Mill until his retirement in 1930. Ile was a member of the Church of Christ. Surviving, are Livesay five of daughters. Blackwater, Va, Mrs. Frank Prather, Mrs.

Lester Breazell. Mrs. Earl Finney and Mrs. Sam Crocker, all one whitmire: one son, William Johnson of Whitmire: two sisters, Mrs. Molly Thomas and Mrs.

Lillie Osborne of Whitmire: two brothers, Dan Johnson and Emmett of Blackwater, 15 grandchildren and five great Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Whitmire Trinity Baptist Church by Rev. James S. McDonald Jr. the Rev.

at Self Memorial Hospital following five years de clining health and a short critical illness. He was born in Elbert County, a son of the late Bob Palmer and Mary Freeman Palmer, both natives of Elbert County. He had made his home in Greenwood for the past five years with his daughter, Mrs. M. L.

Richey, and was a member of Bethel Church in 1 Elbert County. Surviving are 5 daughters, Mrs. James Smith, Vester, Mrs. J. R.

Durden, Columbia, Mrs. Georgie Lewis, Joanna, Mrs. SaTa Beck, Carnesville, and Mrs. M. Richey, Greenwood.

2 sons, Robert Silas Palmer, Atlanta, Ga. and Julian Palmer, Ware Shoals: 17 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Lawrence Palmer, Allgusta, a and Willie Palmer, In Abbeville Give 54 Blue Ribbons At Flower Show By FLETCHER FERGUSON ABBEVILLE, April 25 -Thirtysix exhibitors won a total of 54 blue ribbons in today's "Carnival of Flowers" Flower Show presented by Abbeville garden clubs at the National Guard Armory. As bas happened in several recent shows, the tri-color award for the best entry in the horticultural division went to a man. J. H.

Stevenson took the honor with a garden gold iris. Mrs. J. G. Hagen, who was In charge of staging the junior division show, won the horticulture sweepstakes prize with 1 her accumulation of five blue ribbons, eight reds and four whites.

Second was Mrs. Joe Everette with four, two and two respectively. Mrs. Jasper Davis won the tricolor in the artistic, division, and the sweepstakes, prize went to Mrs. 0.

Mrs. Strickland Mrs. Minnie Cornella Strickland, 78, wife of Alonza P. Strickland of Rt. 2, Marietta, died at her home yesterday at 12:30 p.m.

following a period of declining health. Mrs. Strickland was born in Del Rio, Tenn, and lived in Madison County, N.C., before coming to Marietta seven years ago, Her parents were the late C. R. and Martha Carlisle Self, both natives of Tennessee.

She was 8 member of Shiloh Baptist Church near Marietta, Surviving also are five daughters, Mrs. Annie Cogdgill and Mrs. Zelle Henson of Marietta, Mrs. Mae Norris of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Bertha Moore and Mrs.

Zora Price of Hot Springs, two sons, the Rev. Lewis Strickland of Greenville and the Rev. Estel Strickland of Del Rio; one sister, Mrs. Maggie Stockley of Del Rio, three brothers, Walter Self of Del Rio, Lloyd Self of Wolf Creek, and Hillard Self of Washington: 20 grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. The body was carried to Garrett Funeral Home in Waynesville, N.C.

H. COUNTS NEWBERRY, April 25 The Evangelical Lutheran Synod of South Carolina in its closing session here today at Newberry College accepted an invitation for its next convention to be held at St. Johns Lutheran, Charleston of which the Rev. Heyward Epting is pastor. The morning session began.

A film strip was shown on the birth of a new mission congregation, The committee on Worship reported that the new joint Lutheran hymnal which has been in preparation for many years is expected to be available by the Advent season or close to the first of December. The Rev. Paul G. McCullough of Lexington was reelected editor of The South Carolina Lutheran. He reported that at the present time there are 9,400 subscribers to the magazine.

The work in members of the Abbeville Council of Garden Clubs, of which Mrs. Clyde Hagan is president. Blue Ribbon winners in the horticulture division were Mrs. J. G.

Hagan, five, Mrs. Joe Everett. four, Mrs. Mamie M. Stevenson, three, and Mrs.

Sams, 51, died suddenly at his home in Bullocks. Creek community late Wednesday night. He was the son of the late Will and Revis Sams. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Homer Purcell and one brother, Perry Sams of Bullock Creek; one nephew and one niece whom he reared, Richard and Grace Sams.

Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 p.m. Friday at Bullocks Creek Presbyterian by Dr. Tilden Scherer and the Rev. A. F.

J. Pirkle GREER, April 25-A. J. Pirkle, 78, of 307 limbert died suddenly Thursday at 9:15 a.m. at his home.

Mr. Pirkle was born and reared in Georgia, and had been a resident of Greer 13 years. lle was 8 member of Calvary Baptist Church, and was married to the former Ellie Coker who died three months ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Alice Stinchcomb of Shelby, and Mrs.

Gaynell McAtee of Greenville: six sons, Clifford a Pirkle of Morgantown, W.Va., James Pirkle of Columbia, Woodrow Pirkle of Greenville, William, Alton and Virgil Pirkle of Greer; one brother, Joe Pirkle of Atlanta: one half-brother, Homer kle of Flower Branch, two sisters, Mrs. Emma Warren of Flower Branch, and Mrs. Ida Jenkins of Gainesville, 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, Funeral arrangements will be announced by Wood Mortuary. Ramey MT. REST, April 25-Major Redmon Ramey, 62, died suddenly Thursday at 4 a.m. at the Veterans Hospital in Columbia, where he had gone for treatment Monday. Mr. Ramey was born in Rabun County, but had lived practically his entire life in Oconee County.

He WaS a veteran of World War I and a member of the Lewis Blanchard Post of the American Legion. Ile was a Baptist. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Bonnie Teague Ramey; three sons, Redmon and John Ramey of Greenville and Tommy Ramey of teh home: three daughters, Mrs. (Thelma Ledwell, Mrs.

Grace Edwards and Mrs. Fannie Durham, all of Greenville; one sister, Mrs. Mae Kirby of Seneca, and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3 p.m, at Double Springs Baptist Church near Mt. Rest by the Rev.
