Dickson DEATHS AND FUNERALS Lilla Varnham Martin, 76, of 9 Paris Mountain who died Monday will be conducted at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home today at 11 a. m. by Rev. A. Boyd Turner.

Walter G. Sheppard EDGEFIELD Walter G. Sheppard, 55, of Jeter Street, husband of Mrs. Corine S. Sheppard, died suddenly Tuesday.

A resident of Edgefield the past two years, having moved here from Augusta, he was an insurance agent and mem'a ber of the First Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Ringer of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and Mrs. Mildred Way of Edgefield; As son, George Sheppard of Augusta; sisters, Mrs. A.

H. Stephens of Martinez, and Mrs. P. Sale of Augusta; two brothers, John M. Sheppard of Stapleton, and Jeff Sheppard of Gibson, and five grandsons.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Edgefield First Baptist Church by Rev. B. Conrad Johnston. Burial wil be in Westover Memorial Park in Augusta.

The body is at Hollingsworth Funeral Home. Mrs. Brotherton WHITMIRE Mrs. Mae Duncan Brotherton, 57, wife of Jim S. Brotherton, died at her home, 1146 Reed early Tuesday morning after an illness of eight months.

A native of Lee County, she was the daughter of Mrs. Lottie Jane Lawson Duncan and the late Mack N. Duncan. She had lived in Whitmire since was a member of the Whitmire Primitive Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are two daughters, Mrs.

Jack Ramage of North Augusta and Mrs. Alvin Cox of Whitmire; four sons, Quillen Brotherton of Idaho, James, Billy and David Brotherton, all of Whitmire; a sister, Mrs. John Bolin of Smyrna; three brothers, Quillen Duncan of Greenville, Lloyd and Oren Duncan of Whitmire; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Whitmire Primitive Baptist Church by Rev.

Howard Fisher, Rev. B. R. Nichols and Rev. Grant Sutton.

Robert L. Bishop ROEBUCK Robert L. Bishop, 84, of Rt. 1, Roebuck, died Tuesday at 1:35 a.m. at a Woodruff hospital after several years of declining health and four weeks of illness.

He was lifelong resident of Spartanburg County, son of the late G. E. and Emily Laurens Bishop. He was a member of Roebuck Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs.

Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Hattie Brooks of Newberry; and four stepgrandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a. m. Wednesday at Whitaker Funeral Home by Rev.

Tuesday at his home, 1007 E. Calhoun after two years of declining health and a few days of illness. He was a retired attorney, having begun his practice here in 1904 when he was admitted to the S. C. Bar Association.

He was past president of the Anderson County Bar Association and a member of the American Bar Association. He also was a member of the Anderson Kiwanis Club and the First Baptist Church where he taught a Sunday School class many years. A class now has been named in his honor. He was first associated with the firm of Bonham, Watkins and Allen, which later became Allen Jones. He was born in Dillon County, son of the late Rev.

Joel I. and Helen Rass Allen. His wife, Mrs. Frances Ligon Allen died in February. Surviving are two sons, Thomas L.

and Richard L. Allen of Anderson; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Stanbury of New York; three sisters, Mrs. Ransome Williams of Myrtle Beach, Mrs. A.

She was a widow of Samuel Wallace Dickson, who died in 1925. A native of Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Johnson Sheriff and Fannie Stegall Sheriff. She lived near Liberty all her life and was a member of Smith's Grove Baptist Church. Surviving are four sons, Clayborn Robert Dickson of Easley, Edward Reid Dickson of Lyman, Sherwood Ralph and Elbert R.

Dickson of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Jim Frank Cox of Easley; five brothers, Sam, Robert and Bluford Sheriff of Easley, Elbert Sheriff of Lyman and Julius Sheriff of Greenville; three sisters, Mrs. S. E. Davis, Mrs.

Harmon Waldrop and Mrs. Ruth Adcox of Easley; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grand-1926 children. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p. m. Wednesday at Smith's Grove Baptist Church by Rev.

James Hampton, Rev. Allen Owens and Rev. A. C. Harrison.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy, Hoke, Jack and Samuel Cox, Raymond and Samuel Dickson.
