1, Pelzer, died at his home Wednesday at 6 a.m. after an illness of three days. was a son of the late and Elizabeth Woodborn in Pender County, N. C. He lived in Pelzer for more than 60 years.

Before his retirement in 1957, he was maintenance manager for both the Upper and Lower Mills of Kendall's Pelzer Division. He began work for the Mills when he was 20. While living in West Pelzer, he Served on the Town Council for two years, as a trustee of West Pelzer School for 18 years and 15 years as chairman of the Board a of Trustees. He was a member of Pelzer Camp, Woodmen of the for 51 years and was presented a 50-year pin. He was a member of Pelzer Lodge 217 for 42 years, its secretary for 32 years.

He served the lodge as worshipful master for three years and deputy grand master of District 17. He had been a Shriner for 18 years, a Royal Arch Mason, a member of the Royal and Select Masters' Council and held an appointive office as a Knight Templar. He was a member of Pelzer Methodist Church and served as steward, charge leader, teacher for Sunday School Class and men's class teacher. Surviving are nine daughters, Mrs. Charles (Helen) Gibson of Young's Island, Mrs.

L. C. (Blanch) Sutherland of Newport News, Mrs. Elizabeth W. Monroe of Latta, Mrs.

Boyce WILLIAMSTON Charles Derwood Boyce, 45, of Anderson Drive was found dead in his car near Clinton Wednesday night about 6 p.m. Laurens County Coroner Marshall Pressley, ordered an autopsy but said the causes of death was apparently strangulation.

The coroner said he did not expect to call an inquest. The victim had been missing for eight days. He was an employe of the Boyce Furniture Co. in Pelzer and was a son of Delt and Bertie Barnwell Boyce Sr. Surviving also are his wife, Mrs.
