David T. Griffith EASLEY David Thomas Griffith, 64, of Route 10, Old Pendleton Road, died Sunday. He was a retired radio operator obituaries Sgt Charles King, long-time police officer, dies at 54 Sgt. Charles Earl "Chuck" King, 54, of 17 High Hill died Sunday. King joined the Greenville Police Department in 1954 and served as patrolman until he was appointed a motorcycle officer in 1957.

He was promoted to the position of selective enforcement sergeant in 1968 and remained with the traffic division for a number of years before assuming his present office of platoon field sergeant. He received anti-terrorism training in 1978 at Illinois State Police Academy. King served in the U.S. Air Force for two years, was a member of the S.C. Law Enforcement Officers Association, the Greenville Police Pistol Club, and was a member of White Oak Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Cooley King; a daughter, Jeana King of Greenville; two sons, Roddy E. King and Charles Terry King, both of Greenville; his mother and stepfather, Beatrice Myers King and Henry Eller of Greenville; a sister, Mrs. Oscar (Joyce) Blume of Greenville; and four stepsisters and four stepbrothers. Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Corner Stone Baptist Church on Fair-forest Way off of Laurens Road.

She was a retired textile worker and was a member of Simpsonville First Presbyterian Church, where she had served as secretary and treasurer for 55 years. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. S.F. (Marian) Tyner of Greenville, Evelyn Painter and Mrs. Guy (Connie) Whiteside, both of Simpsonville; and a brother, George Painter of Greenville.

Sisk FUQUAY VARINA, N.C. Helen Cox Sisk, 66, of Fuquay-Vari-na, died Sunday. She was a member of Fayetteville Community Church. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy S. Edwards of Fayetteville, N.C; two sons, Eddie Sisk of the home and William Sisk of Charlotte, N.C; two sisters, Jean Ayers of Taylors, and Mary Amerson of Spartanburg, S.C; and two brothers, Herbert Cox and CB.

SGT. CHARLES E. "CHUCK" KING Sergeant Charles Earl "Chuck" King, 54, of 17 High HiU Street, died early Sunday morning following a sudden illness. 1 A lifelong resident of Greenville, he was born October 30, 1931 and was the son of Mrs. Beatrice Myers King Eller of Greenville and the late Lewis Earl King.

Sergeant King joined the Greenville Police Department on April 16, 1954 and served as a patrolman, until he was appointed a Motor Cycle Officer on February 1, 1957. Promoted to the position of Selective Enforcement Sergeant on March 2, 1968, he remained with the Traffic Division for a number of years, before assuming his present office of Platoon Field Sergeant with the department. He received Anti-Terrorism Training in 1978 from Illinois State Police Academy and received numerous letters of commendation and appreciation from the Citizens of Greenville. Sergeant King was a member of White Oaks Baptist Church, the Hejaz Temple of the Shrine and the Marching PatroL He was a member of Wade Hampton Lodge No. 404, A.F.M., the S.C.

Law Enforcement Officers Association and the Greenville Police Pistol Club. He served in the U.S. Air Force for two years. Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife, Mrs. Virginia Cooley King; a daughter, Jeana King of Greenville; two sons, Roddy E.

King and Charles Terry King, both of Greenville; his step-father, Henry Eller of Greenville; a sister, Mrs. Oscar (Joyce) Blume of Greenville; four grandchildren, Roddy Shane King, Jamie Christopher King, Mandy King and Jennifer King; four step-sisters; and four stepbrothers. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Wednesday at Corner Stone Baptist Church on Fairforest Way off of Laurens Road, by Rev. Tommy Kay, Rev. Oscar Phillips and Rev.

Cecil L. Courtney GEORGETOWN Cecil Lee Courtney, 68, of Route 7, died Sunday. He was a retired woodyard operator at International Paper a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of North Hampton Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Lola Truitt Courtney of the home; a daughter, HERBIE T.

BAUGHMAN "Papa Herbie" Theodore Baughman, 81, of Route 1, Balcome Simpsonville, died Sunday. He was a native of Aiken County and was a son of the late Bud and Emma Fulmer Baughman. Mr. Baughman was co-owner of Country Earl's Seafood Restaurant and was a former employee of Metal Products and Piedmont Plush Mill. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Mauldin.

Surviving are his wife, Susie Lackey Baughman; four sons, Earl Baughman of Simpsonville, Tommy Baughman of Gahanna, Ohio, Sammy Baughman of Gray Court, Jerry Baughman of Mauldin; one daughter, Mrs. Tommy "Anne" Kellett of Simpsonville; one sister, Ethel Hall of Orlando, and thirteen grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Mauldin by Rev. William M. Page, Jr.

H. CLYDE CURRY Fountain Inn. Henry Clyde Curry, 96, of the Greenpond Community, Route 3, died Monday, March 24, 1986 at Hillcrest Hospital. He was born in Greenville County, son of the late Lewis and Mary Adams Curry and was a charter member and oldest member of Greenpond United Methodist Church. He was a retired farmer.

His wife, Eula Stone Curry, died in 1969. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Martha Taylor of Greenville and Miss Margaret Curry of the home; a son-in-law, Warren Taylor of Greenville; a sister, Mrs. Mary Bolt of Gray Court; a grandson, Steve Taylor and his wife, Debbie, of Mauldin; two great-grandsons, Ryan and Blake. Graveside services will be at 4 PM Wednesday at Cannon Memorial Park, conducted by Rev.

Born in Greenville County, he was son of the late Johnny and Jea-nette Davis McCuen. He was a retired mechanic.
