He was a farmer and carpenter and a member of Little Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Estelle Osment Blackwell of the home; three daughters, Christine Hyder and Eula Curtis, both of Gaffney, and Margie Worley of Fort Mill; a son, Glen Blackwell of Duncan; two sisters, Madeline Weathers of Lincolnton, N.C., and Mary Sutherland of Gaffney; and a brother, Robert Blackwell of Rock Hill.

Services: 3 p.m. Friday at the Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home Chapel, Gaffney, with burial in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Fern Butler WALHALLA Fern Emogene Kirby Butler, 67, of 400 S.

Cedar died Wednesday. She was a homemaker and a Presbyterian. Surviving are a son, Ray E. Butler of Buhl, three daughters, Sharilyn White of Walhalla, Rita Soland of Buhl, and Audrey Gordon of Minneapolis, and a brother, Eldon S. Kirby of Bellview, Fla.

Cedar Walhalla. Harley L. Campbell GREENWOOD Harley Lee Campbell, 70, of 251 Magnolia died Wednesday at Self Memorial Hospital. He was a retired employee of Greenwood Mills, Chalmers Plant, and also retired from the U.S. Army as a corporal.

He served during World War II and the Korean Conflict, when he received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a Baptist. Surviving are a grandson raised in the home, Don Henderson of Ninety Six; two sisters, Mrs. J.L. (Martha) Sammons and Helen Walker, both of Greenville; and two brothers, Leon Jack and Richard Campbell, both of Greenville.

Services: 3 p.m. Friday at the Harley Funeral Home, Greenwood, with burial in Edgewood Cemetery. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Julia S.

Clark GREENWOOD Julia Shirley Clark, 90, of Route 3, Pucketts Ferry Road, died Tuesday. She was a homemaker and a member of Siloam Baptist Church. Conyers SENECA John Clayton Conyers, 33, of Pine Grove Community, died He was a brick mason, construction employee, a U.S.

Army veteran of the war in Vietnam, and a Methodist. Surviving are his mother, Ossie Adams Conyers of Seneca; a daughter, April Conyers of Washington; a brother, Cecil Conyers of Seneca; and a sister, Jan Pulliam of Cornelia, Ga. Thursday at the Seneca Mortuary. She was a former high school teacher and coach in the South Carolina school system and former dean of Business Education at Midlands Technical College. George B. McGuire Mr. George B. McGuire, of Wellesley Hills, died Tuesday. He was a retired senior vice president of Badger Company of Cambridge.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth McGuire of the home; two daughters, Elizabeth Kaseta of Perkinsville, and Kathlene Augustine of Fairfax, and four sons, George McGuire of Orlando, William McGuire of Dunwoodie, Edward McGuire of Florham Park, N.J., and John Paul "J.P." He retired from J.P. Stevens Co. Inc. after 36 years of service and was a Baptist. Surviving are his wife, Willie Mae Sullivan Maddox of the home; two sons, Joe Maddox and Ray Maddox, both of Anderson; and three brothers, Seth R.

Thursday at the McDougald Funeral Home, Anderson. Valera G. Mayfield ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. Val- era Gregory Mayfield, 82, died Tuesday at Bay Front Medical Center in St.

Petersburg. She was an educator for 36 years in Alabama and Miami and was a member of the Presbyterian church. She had held the office of recording secretary and first vice president in Delta Kappa Gamma Society, international society for teachers. She was a past member of University of Parliamentarians and the National Association of Parliamentarians. She was treasurer of the Rare Fruit Council of South Florida.

Surviving is her sister, Helen G. Pruitt of St. Petersburg. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at the Presbyterian church in Jefferson, S.C.

James Marino Wright, formerly of Greenville, died Thursday, March 6, 1986. He was born in Greenville County, the son of Raymond Carter, Sr. and Juanita Carter. He was retired from the U.S. Navy.

Surviving in addition to his parents, both of Greenville, are his wife, Georgina Mae Porter Wright of Philadelphia, two sons, Michael Anthony and James Marino, both of the three brothers, Raymond Carter, Charles Carter and James A. Carter, all of Greenville; three sisters, Mable Mayes of Brendwood, N.Y., Jerry Wright of East Orange, N.Y., and Barbara Jean Wright Williams of Edison, N.J.; one grandchild, Michael Anthony Wright II; and a host of other relatives and friends. Dora Mae Smith Edwards, 81, of 7699 Yankee Street, Fredericktown, Ohio, former resident of Colonial Avenue, Greenville, died Sunday. Born July 24, 1904 in Phenix City, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late William and Florence Foster Smith. Before her retirement she was employed with Union Mill in Union, S.C. and was a member of Upper Fairforest Baptist Church near Union. She was a member of Westbrook Sunday School of Pendleton Street Baptist Church, Greenville.

Surviving are three daughters, Miss Blondel Edwards of Tampa, Mrs. G.C. (Ethyl) Crumpton of Greenville and Mrs. Kenneth (Patricia) Brissey of Greenwood, three sons, Willard Edwards and Jimmy Edwards, both of Indianapolis, Ind. and Wallace Edwards of Fredericktown, Ohio; two grandchildren, reared in the home, Sandra Bishop of of Williamston and Reed Fleming of Greenville; tv other grandchildren; and twenty-nine greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Friday at the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home. Interment will be in Old Silverbrook Cemetery in Anderson, S.C. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 PM Thursday at the funeral home. The family is at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G.C.

He was a civil engineer and retired from Daniel International Corp. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a Baptist. Surviving are his wife, M. Bell Martin Spiess of Easley; a stepdaughter, Josette Gillespie of Greenville; two stepsons, Carl A.

Rogers and Arthur Ray Rogers, both of Easley; three sisters, Myrl Hamner of Florida, Naomi Axon of California and Mary Kuntz of Iowa; and a son, Ronald Spiess of Georgia. Graveside services: 2 p.m. Thursday in Antioch Christian Church Cemetery. Mr. Spiess was a civil engineer and was retired from Daniel International Corporation and was a graduate of Purdue University. He was a World War II, U.S. Navy Veteran and a Baptist. Surviving are his wife, M.

Bell Martin Spiess of Easley; stepdaughter, Josette Gillespie of Greenville; two step-sons, Carl A. Rogers and Arthur Ray Rogers, both of Easley; three sisters, Myrl Florida, Naomi Axon of California, and Mary Kuntz of Iowa; one son, Ronald Spiess of Georgia; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Thursday at the graveside in Antioch Christian Church Cemetery by Rev. T.L. Duncan.

The body is at the Jones Mortuary. The family will be at the home, 203 East Easley. Services: 1 p.m. Friday at the Watkins, Garrett Woods Mortuary. Cremation will follow.

Johnny King TOWNVILLE Johnny Ray King, 32, of Route 1, died Tuesday. He was owner of Seneca River Boat Dock a U.S. Army veteran of the war in Vietnam, and a Baptist. Surviving are his wife, Judy Powell King of the home; his father, Lloyd Edward King of Townville; his mother, Mrs. Wallace White Bundschuh of Townville; a son, Jonathan King of the home; a daughter, Chastity King of the home; four brothers, Mickey King of Seneca, Jerry King, Edward King and Teddy King, all of Townville; a half brother, Lloyd King Jr.

of Townville; and a sister, Letricia Langdale of Townville. Services: 4p.m. Friday at Oakdale Baptist Church, Townville, with burial in Oconee Memorial Park. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Seneca Mortuary.

W. Tom King ANDERSON William Thomas King, 83, of 802 Linley died Tuesday. He was a retired policeman with the City of Anderson and a member of First Wesleyan Methodist Church. Surviving are a brother, J. Reese King of Atlanta, a sister, Mrs.

J.H. (Sadie) Hiott of Atlanta, and a niece raised in the home, Mrs. Spann (Frances) Aiken of Greenville. Services: 3 p.m. Thursday at the Sullivan-King Mortuary Chapel, Anderson, with burial in Old Silver Brook Cemetery.

Lynch Sr. SENECA Thomas C. Lynch 78, of 307 Hampton Road, Normandy MRS. SADIE LEE HOOPER Mrs. Sadie Lee Fields Hooper, 87, of 37 Jones Street, Brandon Community, widow of William Oscar Hooper, died Wednesday.

A native of Pickens County, she was born September 11, 1898, and was the daughter of the late Abner and Charity Williams Fields. Mrs. Hooper had lived in Greenville for many years and was a member of Brandon Baptist Church and was a former teacher in the Senior Adult Department of the Sunday School. Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Agnes Tollison Hooper of the home; three grandsons, Charles E.

Hooper of Powdersville, Wayne 0. Hooper and Tommy D. Hooper, both of Greenville; two sisters, Miss Christine Masters and Mrs. Lillie M. Massey, both of Easley; two brothers, Grady B.

Fields of Pickens and Carroll E. Fields of Marietta, a step-sister, Mrs. Sunie Masters Duncan of Greer; eight grandchildren; and two greatgreat-grandchildren. A son, William Eugene Hooper, died in 1963. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Friday at the Chapel of the Thomas McAfeel Funeral Home by Rev.

WHITAKER, SR. Easley. William Alma Whitaker, 84, of 115 Lucille Avenue, died at 10:24 AM Tuesday after one year of declining health. Mr. Whitaker was born in Greenville County, a son of the late William Joseph and Alma Milford Whitaker.

He was former owner and operator of Royal Clothing and Finance Company, in 1 Easley, served as Mayor of Easley from 1949 to 1951. Mr. Whitaker was a member of Bate's Masonic Lodge No. 189 A.F.M. and a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple in Greenville and was a member of the Easley Church of God.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lucille Jordan Whitaker of the home; one son, W.A. Whitaker, Jr. of the home; one granddaughter, Kathy Ninan of Easley; one grandson, Mike Whitaker of Greenville; a niece and nephew, Reba and Sherwood Ellenburg of Easley; and four great Funeral services will be at 3 PM Thursday in the Chapel of the Robinson Funeral, conducted by Dr. Norman Lewis and Rev.

Oliver Howard. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Greenville. The body is at the funeral home. The family is at the home..
