Navy veteran of World War II and was a Baptist. Surviving are his wife, Elsie Lyle Simpson of the home; two sons, Donald L. Simpson of Easley and Robert F. Simpson of Taylors; a daughter, Eleanor McGuire of Six Mile; and two sisters, Mildred Aul of Mauldin and Helen Simpson of Greenville. Services: 3 p.m.

Smart Alvin Eules Smart, 58, of 106 Sunshine died June 18, 1988. He was a retired plumber and was a Baptist. Surviving are a daughter, Janice S. Foster of Greer; three sisters, Louise Smart and Beth Manis, both of Greenville, and Cathline Hodge of Rutherfordton, N.C; and two brothers, Thomas Smart and A. H.

Smart Jr. both of Greenville. Graveside services: 3 p.m. Monday in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Sunday at The Mackey Mortuary. The family is at the home of Janice S. Foster, 123 Morrow Greer. Floyd H. Smith Floyd Henry Smith, 85, of 242 Byrd Boulevard, died June 18, 1988, following a brief illness.

He was a retired paymaster for Abney Mills, a member of Brandon United Methodist Church and formerly coached the Brandon girl's basketball team. Surviving are his wife, Olfria Langston Smith of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Neal (Karen) Campbell and Joan S. Martin, both of Greenville; a sister, Helen S. Huffman of Greenville; and a brother, Robert D.

Sunday at Sea wright Funeral Home, Inman. The family is at the home of David C. Presnell, 219 Wall Road in Boiling Springs. Johnny A. Robison TAYLORS Johnny Andrew Robison, 60, of 34 Stockton died June 17, 1988, in Columbia following a sudden illness.

He was an employee of Stone Manufacturing a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, where he was awarded the Silver Star, and was a member of Lee Road Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Betty Bur-gin Brookshire Robison of the home; a son, Paul V. Robison of Greenville; three daughters, Vickie Hudson of Greer, Mary Thomas of Taylors and Martha Robison of New York, N.Y.; four stepdaughters, Aileen Brookshire and Claudia Riddle, both of Greer, Elizabeth Durham of Newberry and Judy Durham of Simpsonville; three brothers, Sam Robison of Taylors, CD. Robison of Fort Worth, Texas, and Charles Robison of Fayette-ville, N.C; and two sisters, Cynthia Wood of Piedmont and Evelyn Du-vall of Cleveland, Ohio.

Ross DEARBORN, Mich. Robert Roy Ross, 82, of Dearborn, died June 8, 1988. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Ann Austin Ross; three daughters, Mildred Ferguson of Simpsonville, Carolyn Chiasson of Dearborn and Helen Sounart of Phoenix, a son, Dr. Robert Roy Ross M.D., of Nakomis, and three sisters, Mary R. McKittrick of Clinton, Dorothy R.

McGowan Virginia Delia Hall McGowan, 68, of Route 6, Vine Hill Road, died of natural causes June 18, 1988, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

She was a bookkeeper for Rainey Law Firm and was a member of Mauldin First Baptist Church. Surviving are her mother, Fannie Simpson Hall of Abbeville; a son, William Spencer McGowan III of Mauldin; and a daughter, Harriet M. Snow of Abbeville. Graveside services: 11 a.m. Monday in Melrose Cemetery in Abbeville.

Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville. Sharon B. Morrow WELLFORD Sharon Ladelle Bridgeman Morrow, 36, of 203 Green Road, died June 17, 1988, at her home following several months of declining health. She was a teacher at Woodland Heights Elementary School in Spartanburg County District 6 and was a member of Wellford Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Kenneth R.

Morrow of the home; her parents, Willis and Jessie Mayfield Bridgeman of Greer; a daughter, Nancy Rebecca Morrow of the home; and a brother, Mark Bridgeman of Greer. Wood Mortuary, Greer. Benjamin C. Presnell SPARTANBURG Benjamin Claude Presnell, 65, of 219 Wall Road, died June 18, 1988, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. He was a retired employee of General Motors a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Green Point Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sisters, Susan Stinson of Charlotte, N.C, Hazel Baker of Spencer, and Georgia Leach of Greenville; and two brothers, David C. Presnell and OTHER SERVICES Pickens doctor dies at age 72 PICKENS Dr. Thomas Pow-ine Valley, M.D., a long-time doctor in Pickens and a former associate director of the Appalachian II Health District, died June 17, 1988, at Greenville Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was 72. Valley, of 103 Florence St, practiced medicine in Pickens from 1946 to 1973 and for 12 years served as associate director in Appalachian II Health District (for Greenville and Pickens counties).

He was a U.S. Army Medical Corps veteran of World War II, where he was awarded the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, Purple Heart and Combat Medical Badge, and also served in the Korean War. He was a lifelong member of Pickens Presbyterian Church, where he was a former deacon. Surviving is a sister, Margaret V. Lewis of Pickens.

i Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Dillard Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. Past police chief dies at age 67 IVA Thomas 'a. Cheek, former police chief of Iva, died of nat-iiral causes June 17, 1988, at Anderson Memorial Hospital.

He was 67. Cheek, of East Central Avenue, "yas a former Iva chief of police and was a retired guard at the Anderson County Stockade. He 'was a U.S. Navy veteran of World II and was of the Wesleyan 'faith. 'i Surviving are his wife, Willise Bruce Cheek of the home; a daughter, Patricia C.

Edna B. Markham PORTLAND, Ore. Edna Bannister Markham, 62, of 15110 S.E. Powell, died June 17, 1988, following a sudden illness. She and her husband were owners of a restaurant in Portland.

Surviving are her husband, Lloyd Markham of the home; a daughter, Diana M. Dunn of Portland; and three sisters, Mae Dell B. Hinton of Greenville, Ruby B. Bridges of Rock Hill and Kathleen B. Norris of Charleston.
