Albert Lee Ellenburg, 73, of 435 Riggins Bridge Road, died at 1 AM Friday, September 21 at home. Mr. Ellenburg was born in Pickens County a son of the late Luther and Nina Reeves Ellenburg. He was a retired cattle farmer and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sisters Leila Ellenburg of the home and Lena Murphree of Pickens a brother Edward Ellenburg of Liberty and an aunt Gladys Bryant of Greenville. Funeral services will be conducted 3 PM Sunday at Shady Grove Baptist Church by Reverend Marion Hudgens and Reverend Fred Smith with interment following at Hillcrest Memorial Park. "RED" BROCK Conestee. Vernon Ira "Red" Brock, 72, of 15 Fourth Avenue, Conestee, died Thursday, September 20, 1990 at Saint Francis Hospital following a period of declining health. Born in Anderson County, June 10, 1918, he was a son of the late John Preston and Lillian Bell Brock and lived most of his life in Conestee. Berfore his retirement, he was associated with Castles and Sloan Construction, Inc. and was of the Church of God of Prophecy faith.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ethel Pitts Brock; a daughter, Mrs. Randy (Patricia) Alexander 'of Greenville; two sons, Vernon Lavon Brock and John Leon Brock, also of Greenville; two sisters, Mrs. Clara B. Joseph of Greenville and Mrs.

Fannie Sue Timmersman of Florida; nine grandchildren and one greatgranddaughter. A son, Maxie Lee Brock, died in 1970. Alliance for Justice re calls for Souter rejection, WASHINGTON (AP). A liberal legal affairs group on Friday called for the Senate to reject the nomination of David Souter to the Supreme Court. The Alliance for Justice, a coalition representing a variety of interest groups including several feminist organizations, said Souter in Senate testimony raised "troubling questions" about his judicial philosophy. "The alliance is convinced that Judge Souter will not protect the rights of those suffering discrimination on the basis of race, gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or the group said in a statement. In three days of testimony, Souter carefully avoided controversial issues.

For example, he refused to answer questions related to whether he would overturn the 1973 Supreme Court ruling in Roe vs. Wade which legalized abortion. New York state Attorney Souter General Robert Abrams called for Souter's rejection because he "has not been forthcoming" on the abortion issue. "Judge Souter's evasive answers are not reassuring and should not be acceptable," Abrams said in a letter to Sen. Joseph Biden, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
